Introverted Invitation by K. Kenneth Edusei

This is so difficult!

It takes so much to be here,

Soul crushing the interaction:

Our Collective dinner,

An introverts nightmare.

The social world isn’t fungible,

I must step out my mind,

Solipsism is a drug,

As potent as any kind.

There is a space for you,

The seat is not in theory,

“Please join us for dinner,

You’re welcome to the table.

Really.”

I know it’s hard to believe it,

I know you feel a little unsafe,

You’re reminded of a past time,

You’re reminded of a past place.

“I know it’s unusual,

I rarely make request,

However, eat with us,

At my emphatic behest.”

So I am at dinner,

Talking with friends,

And now I’m realizing

It’s more than myself

To whom I must make amends
