Wings by K. Kenneth Edusei

I’ve walked to this place,
The end of the road,
The decision space,
I have followed a path,
Yet never dared to dream,
The difference between Destiny and Existence:
A pair of wings.
The courage to fly,
Contrasting the safety to walk,
Facing your fear,
Or running from the thought,
Should I believe in something more,
Create my own path,
Should I accept Existence,
There is wisdom in the past,
I’ve listened to reason,
But feel the pull of my heart,
Convention for its own sake,
A logic I’m compelled to depart.
My dreams lay in the clouds,
I aim for stratospheric heights,
The road I chose is through the skies,
I’m here on the precipice,
I have my gear and tools,
All important things,
However to reach Destiny,
I will need a pair of wings.
